Editorial Policy
How we research, what we cite, how we handle the regulator, and where our interests could pull against yours.
Sources
We cite studies indexed in PubMed and regulator pages. We open each source and check that it says what we write. We give the PubMed number so you can check too. We name the number of participants, the length of the study and its limits.
Regulator statements
Any statement about what the FDA has or has not cleared is checked in the FDA's pages and databases on the day we write it, and we keep a dated capture. We write the date next to the statement.
Medical review
No physician reviews our pages at the moment. Each page says so. If a licensed reviewer joins, we will publish their name, specialty, license number and review date on the pages they review, and never before.
Dates and updates
Every page shows when it was last reviewed. We re-check sources and regulator pages when we revise a page, and the date changes only when we do.
What we do not publish
- Promises of results, or claims that a treatment works for everyone.
- Prices.
- Testimonials, reviews or photos that we cannot document.
- Dosing or schedules for drugs.
Corrections
If you spot an error, write to us through the contact page. We correct factual errors and note the change on the page.
Interests
We may be compensated by a partner clinic, and we may add shopping links in the future. Read how we are paid. Neither changes what we write about the evidence.
